CREATE OR EXPAND THE MARKET
Mobile telecommunications is one of the most dynamic industries today. Its potential is
vast. Today wireless technology only reaches one fifth of the world's population. In fact,
2 billion people have never even made a phone call. In the coming years, the increasing
number of mobile customers will enjoy a very different range of services. With the arrival
of new technologies and the significant increase in data rates they provide, the
opportunity for growth in this industry is tremendous. The wireless future holds even
more ways for people to share memorable moments, anywhere, anytime.
RETRO-TREND is currently serving solely Turkcell subscribers. In 2003, Turkcell revenues
increased more than 12% compared to 2002, reaching a total of USD $2,219 million
which indicates a tremendous growth in the market. $12 monthly ARPU rate and 40%
wireless penetration are driving revenues for mobile market.
With mobile entertainment services customers can take and send pictures, browse
branded infotainment, listen to audio files, watch video clips, play games and customize
ring tones with their favorite songs. Most of these activities are things people are already
doing through different media today. Success doesn't require a big behavioral change. It
lies simply in mobilizing those things that people are already accustomed to doing.
Overall data traffic is 10% of all mobile revenues in 2004 but it is expected to reach a
minimum of %18 in 2006 which reflects a $500 million market only for mobile
subscribers.
With the emergence of VAS licenses and Satellite VAS service providers, VAS services
virtually be reachable by %80 of population including PSTN, mobile and other wireless
subscribers. These developments will boost the market potential and it is expected to
realize within two years.

will most likely emerge as the defining model for mobile entertainment. These four
scenarios are:
